Teach Me, Yoda

Lately, Vinny has been looking to Ava for cues. Last night we had some pretty crazy wind. It woke up Ava at 11 pm and Vinny shortly followed. They decided Dora was in order and they didn't fall back to sleep until after 1 am!

A couple of days ago, Ava gave Vinny some sippy cup lessons :)

How come mine's not working?
Show me again, Sis.
Like This?

7 Months!!!

Where does the time go...boohoo :( Vinny has finally decided that he likes to eat! Just like a child of mine, he was not going to be doing anything without the appropriate accessories! I was *gasp* attempting to feed him using the BebePod until I decided on which highchair I was going to buy. Apparently that was unacceptable. He has been eating a ton since the day I brought home the highchair LOL.
Like both of sisters before him, he suffers through the vegetables just to get to the fruit. He slurped down the whole jar of peaches in a few minutes :)

Beware of Jamz

Apparently Jamz and Jammin' are code words for "you're old" :( A couple of weeks ago, I stumbled upon a "new" radio station while I was driving to the mall. It was a beautiful day. I had the sunroof open and the two little ones were asleep in their car seats in the back of my Escape. Growing bored of the same ole country songs, I tuned the radio to 105.9 just in time to hear the end of "Little Red Corvette". The next song was my jam-"Don't Walk Away" by Jade- and all of a sudden I was back on I5 south headed to the border, looking good and high on life. I danced with the steering wheel and belted out the lyrics that I hadn't heard in a good 5 years, careful not to wake my babies (wow, time had changed things a little). The next song was Ace of Base! I almost called Shawn! This station was too good to be true!
Of course it was. After "All That She Wants" was over, the promo for the station came on..."Jammin 106...All your jamz from way back in the day." :((( WAY BACK IN THE DAY??? That can't be right! I wasn't even alive way back in the day! Whatever. I kept listening because, well, those were my jamz. Later that day, I went to pick up Emma. I was still listening to Jammin 106 when she got in the car. About a half a block into the ride home (and after hearing me sing along to the radio), Emma says "Mom, how do you know these songs? Are they from way back when you were young?" Kill me now :(

COOKIE TIME!!!

Like Mother, Like Daughter :) Emma and I as second grade Brownies. (Note the brown beanie I am wearing. It was my mother's. I am nice enough NOT to do that to Emma)

Most weeks I am just like Mrs. Hannigan.... Some women are dripping with diamonds. Some women are dripping with pearls. Lucky me! Lucky me! Look at what I'm dripping with.....Little girls! With my own 2 plus 13 Brownies to keep track of it can get a little crazy. However, for the next 6 weeks I'll be dripping with the cookies that belong to all of these LITTLE GIRLS!! I finally got rid of most of them yesterday. But this is what my Expedition looked like for 2 weeks:
When you buy GS cookies, you are helping young girls learn valuable skills in finance, marketing and public speaking. The profits earned from cookie sales are not only used for fun events at the troop level but are also used to continue to enrich the Girl Scout program. Please remember to support your local Girl Scouts by purchasing a few boxes :)

New Wheels

We got a double jogging stroller which will certainly only ever be used by a running adult who might have accidentally let go of the handle to sip her macchiato whilst atop a steep hill. We should probably just refer to it as a stroller. Mmmhmmm, stroll is more our pace. We broke it in today with a trip to the park. It worked out WAAAAAAAAAAAAYYYYYYYYY better than our first idea LOL
Ava and Vinny had a blast in the swing!

Happy New Year

With the new year I have decided to start blogging my family updates/photos. This way, you can keep up with us and see all of our pictures without the constant emails from me :) Come by often to see what we're up to out in Round Rock, Texas.

I cannot believe that 2008 is already here. We have now been in Texas for 18 months. We just celebrated our second Christmas here. We had an awesome holiday.

I gave Vinny his "big gift" early and let him have some cereal for the first time. I thought he was ready, as he has been screaming to join us at the dinner table and interrupting his breastfeedings to see what I am eating/drinking. But he was not impressed.
We are going to give it a little more time. He's now 6 months old. 28" (95%) and 18 pounds (50%). Long and Lean :) Still working on his first tooth.

We went out for dinner on Christmas Eve with our best friends and next-door neighbors, Chad and Amanda Lewton and their son, Cayden. When we got home, the kids sprinkled the lawn with the reindeer food that Ava and Cayden made in preschool.

Christmas morning was so much fun. We woke up when Emma came dashing into our room and yelled "Mom! It's 6:04! Santa probably came already!" I think Santa probably finished his delivery at 3:00 am but we went downstairs anyway and started the day. The coffee (and mimosas) helped. We spent the day playing with new toys and had an awesome dinner at the Lewton's house.

Emma's favorite gift was her iPod shuffle. I "blinged" it out for her and pre-loaded it with a bunch of her favorite songs from Hannah Montana, Jonas Bros, High School Musical, etc. She has only rarely taken it off since.
Ava's favorite gift was Dora's Dance-along adventure. It came with a Dora costume which she immediately donned. It had to be confiscated 2 days later for washing!
Vinny was just excited to watch everything happen. He got his first set of wheels.
For New Year's Eve, we hung out at home with The Lewtons and Emma had a friend over. It was too cold to go out with the kids (it got down to 26F) Because fireworks are legal here, we got to see a ton right in our neighborhood. Emma showed us how to do the Soulja Boy Superman dance. LOL! I am only in for YEARS more of this! I remember the endless nights practicing the Roger Rabbit, Running Man and Cabbage Patch.
We made some yummy cupcakes. When combined with Diet Mt. Dew, they guaranteed that all of the kids would stay up to ring in the New Year. Like most kids on NYE, they were disappointed. "We stayed up for that??" I think Ava finally fell asleep at 2:30!

Today we spent some time out in the blustery wind. Emma practiced her roller skating, Vinny got some fresh air we took down the Christmas lights.
I wish the holidays lasted longer but we had a great time. I hope you all have a healthy, happy new year.
