Vinny Sleeps with the Fishes

Well, I finally got around to finishing Vinny's room. Time just got away from me. First, he was premature. Then, he slept in his room from birth, so I was afraid to move him out of his room and mess up a good thing :) Beto got it started by painting the room white while we were in CA. It took 4 coats! (Note, make sure your builder actually uses PRIMER if you ever buy a new house!). I took advantage of my mom being here to get the rest done. Vinny was so cute! He went into his room and pointed and ooh'd and aah'd. It's nice to be appreciated :)) Now, I only have 150 more rooms to paint...

First Day of Preschool

Ava started preschool again last week. She was so excited to wear this dress with matching hair clip that she picked out specifically for the occasion and her new Sketchers (the shoes that "breathe", she says) She is doing great in her 3 year old class. Here in Texas, they group the kids according to when they will enter kindergarten. Since Ava has a late birthday, she won't be able to start kindergarten until she is almost 6. Next year we may need to find her a full-time pre-K to keep her busy, as she is already doing simple reading, writing and logic :)) (Shout out to Noggin!)

Hooked on Phonaholics

Some of you may remember the (funny) story about Emma learning her letter sounds in Kindergarten. One day they were talking about the letter V. Emma's teacher asked the class to name some words that started with the letter V. Emma raised her hand and said "vod". When her teacher told her "vod" was not a word, Emma said "you know, as in Vod-ka". Well, it seems Ava will soon be making us just as proud. Yesterday Ava and I were working on some phonics books (I'll insert a quick brag here that my 3 year old is starting to read simple words!!) and the activity was to write the beginning letter for each picture. I was helping her identify all of the pictures before she went to write the letters. When we came to a green glass bottle, she said "Buh, buh, BEER!" I could barely contain myself. LOL In her defense, daddy does sell Heineken. So, she has seen lots of those green bottles. Wow, I guess I should just be thankful that she didn't say "Muh, muh, Merlot"
