I can't believe this day has finally come. My beloved Carl's Jr has come to me. Well, close enough. It's in Cedar park. 20 minutes away. I would walk there if I had to. We packed up the kids, strep throat and all, and went to enjoy the best meal we've had in a restaurant since living in Texas. The line was out the door. The drive-thru was at least 15 cars deep. I'm pretty certain 90% of the patrons were CA ex-pats just like us.
Ohmigod, I can see the object of my desire.

Hello, Lover... ( My relationship with the Santa Fe Chicken Sandwich goes back more than a decade)
It was even better than I expected. I could have licked the paper wrapping. Beto was drooling over his Double Western Bacon Cheeseburger and the kids were thrilled with their Chicken Stars. It was like magic. (Oh BTW, I saved calories all week to be able to eat this on my "diet" and I did Jillian Michaels' 30 day shred when we got home.) In the car a little down the road, we see Freddy's Frozen Custard. Oh PLEASE DADDY CAN WE HAVE SOME ICE CREAM!!! We have to beg him to turn the car around. It was soooo worthwhile!! We pulled up and the owner was out front to say that the Drive-thru wasn't open yet because they were training but that we were welcome to come inside FOR A FREE MEAL!! Ummm, hell yes.
The frozen custard was AMAZING!! We are now customers for life. It was that good.
We had a great time, even though the girls were sick and can't wait to do it again!

I caught Carl's JR when they were passing out free meals. I miss Carl's Jr and it was very good. I almost know how you feel but I think your obsessions was worse. Glad Carl's Jr has arrived
Ha! we have shared many santa fe chicken sandwiches! nothing like a big juicy gulp of Carl's Jr soda that hads been sitting next to your bed for... ((throwing up))
